Coherent Breathing

Posted on

Coherent breathing is a simple, scientifically studied breathing technique that promotes calmness and balance in the nervous system.
It involves breathing at a steady rhythm of about 5 breaths per minute — typically inhale for 5–6 seconds and exhale for 5–6 seconds.

This pattern helps synchronize heart rate variability, reduce stress, and improve focus and emotional regulation.
Practice for 5–10 minutes daily while sitting or lying comfortably, keeping attention on smooth, relaxed breathing.

Steps: 1. Inhale gently through your nose for 5–6 seconds.
2. Exhale softly through your nose for 5–6 seconds.
3. Continue without pausing between breaths.
4. Maintain awareness of the breath’s rhythm and your body’s relaxation.

Coherent breathing is often used in mindfulness, yoga, and stress management routines to enhance overall well-being.
